A Holistic Lifeline for Children
and Families Battling Cancer

Support a Campaign

Care Guru Foundation aims to address cancer not in fragments, but as a ‘continuum of care’, ensuring that no one carries two struggles in parallel: the medical one and the financial burden.

Reality is that starting chemotherapy within 2-3 weeks of diagnosis significantly improves survival rates of cancer patients. But most families won't make that timeline, not because the treatment isn't available, but because they're still desperately trying to arrange the funds.

By the time funds are gathered, the cancer cells have often progressed from Stage 1 or 2 to Stage 2 or 3. What could have been treated under ₹2-5 lakh or government subsidy, but now requires ₹12-25 lakh. And the survival odds have dropped.

A child or family is pushed into poverty or forced to abandon treatment due to a lack of resources.

Cancer Care Awareness

Why Comprehensive Cancer Care is Urgently Needed

India witnesses over 14 lakh new cancer cases every year, and nearly 9.1 lakh cancer-related deaths annually. At current incidence rates, 1 in every 9 Indians is likely to develop cancer in their lifetime, turning what feels like a distant risk into a near-universal reality.

Education Continuity for Children

Critical Cancer Treatment Support

We support children and adults undergoing life-saving cancer treatment by helping raise funds online for:

  • Chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and immunotherapy
  • Bone Marrow Transplants and advanced therapies (where applicable)
  • Diagnostics, hospitalisation, medicines, and follow-up care

Cancer fundraisers account for over 30% of all medical crowdfunding in India, highlighting the scale of unmet need. Fundraising with Care Guru Foundation bridges this gap by mobilising timely donor support so that treatment is never delayed or discontinued due to lack of funds.

Habilitation & Rehabilitation Costs

Cancer treatment does not end with remission. Many survivors—especially children—require long-term habilitation and rehabilitation, including:

  • Physiotherapy and occupational therapy
  • Speech and cognitive therapy
  • Prosthetics or assistive devices
  • Long-term medication and monitoring

Care Guru Foundation ensures that survivors are not left unsupported after medical treatment, helping them with financial aid to regain physical, emotional, and social independence.

Nutrition Care for Cancer Patients

Quality diet and nutrition are one of the most overlooked yet critical challenges in cancer treatment. Studies and on-ground data show that nutrition directly impacts treatment tolerance, immunity, and survival outcomes.

Inspired by best practices followed by organisations working in pediatric oncology nutrition care, Care Guru Foundation raises funds to provide a StrengthBox that sustains a family of 4 for a month, consisting of:

  • 6 kg wheat, bajra, daliya or rice flour
  • 3 kg pulses, including moong dal, masoor dal, kabuli chana and soybean
  • 1.5 kg dry fruits, groundnuts, oil and til seeds
  • 1.5 kg protein and skimmed milk powder

By addressing malnutrition, we improve treatment outcomes and reduce complications during therapy.

Education Continuity for Children with Cancer

Cancer should not steal a child’s future. Prolonged hospitalisation and financial distress often force children to drop out of school permanently.

Through fundraising, Care Guru Foundation supports:

  • School re-enrolment and bridge education
  • Tuition fees, books, uniforms, and digital learning tools
  • Academic counselling and reintegration into formal education

Ensuring continuity of education helps children reclaim normalcy and long-term opportunity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of cancer treatments and costs does Care Guru Foundation cover?

icon
We help raise funds online and aim to offer start-to-end support for a patient’s cancer journey, including support for chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, immunotherapy, bone marrow or stem cell transplant (where applicable), diagnostics, hospitalisation, medicines, and follow-up care.
We also support indirect costs like nutrition kits, travel & accommodation, education continuity and livelihood support.

Who can apply for Cancer Care support from Care Guru Foundation?

icon
Families with children or adults diagnosed with cancer who face financial barriers at any point of a challenging cancer journey.

What if our family already has insurance or is eligible for government schemes?

icon
Care Guru Foundation helps combine all available resources — we encourage the use of insurance, Ayushman Bharat or state schemes first. Our support fills the gaps like co-payments, uncovered expenses, indirect costs, and more, ensuring comprehensive help for cancer patients.

Are funds disbursed directly to hospitals or treatment facilities?

icon
We prefer to transfer funds directly to the hospital when possible (for medical expenses). For other household or educational needs, we may transfer to the family after stringent verification. All transfers are documented, and donors get access to regular fund utilization reports.

How does providing nutrition support help a patient’s cancer journey?

icon
We fund StrengthBox kits (basic staples and protein supplements) and targeted nutrition support because adequate nutrition improves tolerance against harsh cancer treatments and outcomes. Our holistic support follows best practices used by paediatric oncology support organisations.

What rehabilitation / long-term support is available after treatment?

icon
Post-treatment support can include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech/cognitive therapy, assistive devices, long-term medicines, and reintegration support such as school re-enrolment and tuition.

How do you support a child’s education during or after treatment?

icon
We help raise funds online for a child’s re-enrolment, school fees, books, uniforms and digital learning tools, in addition to counselling to ease reintegration into school after recovery.

How is my donation utilized?

icon
Donations are routed to verified patient needs during their cancer journey, including medical bills, nutrition, accommodation, education, and livelihood. To ensure 100% transparency, we provide regular fund utilization reports so donors can see how funds were spent.

Are my donations tax-deductible?

icon
Yes, donations to cancer care fundraisers (of INR 500 or above) are eligible for tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, post declaration of the donor’s PAN and address details before the end of the financial year in which the donation was made.

How do you verify cases and cancer treatment estimates?

icon
We verify medical records, doctors’ prescriptions and cancer treatment cost estimates through our Trust & Safety team, and (where needed) partner hospital confirmations before launching online fundraisers or disbursing funds.

Which hospitals/clinics do you work with?

icon
Currently, our network spans over 300+ hospitals across India, including respected institutions like Apollo, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer, KEM, Tata Memorial and many more. These partnerships are built on trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to provide help for cancer patients in need of holistic care.

Cancer burden is large and rising — India witnesses over 14 lakh new cancer cases every year, and nearly 9.1 lakh cancer-related deaths annually. At current incidence rates, 1 in every 9 Indians is likely to develop cancer in their lifetime, turning what feels like a distant risk into a near-universal reality.

How much does cancer treatment typically cost in India?

icon
