Frequently Asked Questions
What types of cancer treatments and costs does Care Guru Foundation cover?
We help raise funds online and aim to offer start-to-end support for a patient’s cancer journey, including support for chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, immunotherapy, bone marrow or stem cell transplant (where applicable), diagnostics, hospitalisation, medicines, and follow-up care. We also support indirect costs like nutrition kits, travel & accommodation, education continuity and livelihood support.
Who can apply for Cancer Care support from Care Guru Foundation?
Families with children or adults diagnosed with cancer who face financial barriers at any point of a challenging cancer journey.
What if our family already has insurance or is eligible for government schemes?
Care Guru Foundation helps combine all available resources — we encourage the use of insurance, Ayushman Bharat or state schemes first. Our support fills the gaps like co-payments, uncovered expenses, indirect costs, and more, ensuring comprehensive help for cancer patients.
Are funds disbursed directly to hospitals or treatment facilities?
We prefer to transfer funds directly to the hospital when possible (for medical expenses). For other household or educational needs, we may transfer to the family after stringent verification. All transfers are documented, and donors get access to regular fund utilization reports.
How does providing nutrition support help a patient’s cancer journey?
We fund StrengthBox kits (basic staples and protein supplements) and targeted nutrition support because adequate nutrition improves tolerance against harsh cancer treatments and outcomes. Our holistic support follows best practices used by paediatric oncology support organisations.
What rehabilitation / long-term support is available after treatment?
Post-treatment support can include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech/cognitive therapy, assistive devices, long-term medicines, and reintegration support such as school re-enrolment and tuition.
How do you support a child’s education during or after treatment?
We help raise funds online for a child’s re-enrolment, school fees, books, uniforms and digital learning tools, in addition to counselling to ease reintegration into school after recovery.
How is my donation utilized?
Donations are routed to verified patient needs during their cancer journey, including medical bills, nutrition, accommodation, education, and livelihood. To ensure 100% transparency, we provide regular fund utilization reports so donors can see how funds were spent.
Are my donations tax-deductible?
Yes, donations to cancer care fundraisers (of INR 500 or above) are eligible for tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, post declaration of the donor’s PAN and address details before the end of the financial year in which the donation was made.
How do you verify cases and cancer treatment estimates?
We verify medical records, doctors’ prescriptions and cancer treatment cost estimates through our Trust & Safety team, and (where needed) partner hospital confirmations before launching online fundraisers or disbursing funds.
Which hospitals/clinics do you work with?
Currently, our network spans over 300+ hospitals across India, including respected institutions like Apollo, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer, KEM, Tata Memorial and many more. These partnerships are built on trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to provide help for cancer patients in need of holistic care.
