What is fundraising?

Fundraising is a quick and community-centric way to raise money online. Using our fundraising platform, you can raise the required amounts through donations from across India to receive help for medical emergencies, disaster relief, support a non-profit or a social cause, and even raise funds online for personal needs such as medical treatment, education, or businesses.

Is fundraising legal in India?

Yes, online donation-based fundraising for social, medical, and personal causes is legal in India. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) considers all forms of fundraising legal in India except for equity fundraising. Contributions made to such fundraising platforms are eligible for income tax deductions under Section 80G.

Do the funds raised on the platform need to be returned?

Money contributed towards online fundraisers on Care Guru Foundation is considered a donation or a gift, and the beneficiary is not liable to return the money at any point. This no-payback liability ensures one can pay for a medical or any other emergency need without worrying about debt.

How will my donation be used?

Donations are routed to verified needs — direct medical bills, nutrition, rehabilitation, education or emergency relief. We provide regular fund utilization reports and updates so that donors know how funds were spent.

Do you transfer funds directly to hospitals or beneficiaries?

Wherever possible, we make direct transfers to hospitals, vendors, or verified service providers to reduce leakage; for household needs, we may disburse to families after stringent verification.

Are my donations tax-deductible?

Yes, donations (of INR 500 or above) are eligible for tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, post declaration of the donor’s PAN and address details before the end of the financial year in which the donation was made.

How do you ensure requests are genuine?

Each campaign undergoes medical and documentation verification by our Trust & Safety team and, when relevant, hospital confirmation or partner NGO validation before funds are disbursed. We also publish utilisation updates after major disbursements.

Do you work with hospitals, schools and other NGOs?

Yes, we are open to collaborating with hospitals, educational institutions, grassroots NGOs and corporate partners to raise funds online for medical, education, emergency response and more causes whenever deemed necessary.
